Virtua Marlton
Virtua Marlton is an established regional medical center that offers a full range of inpatient and outpatient services. Virtua Marlton features a premier cardiology center, offering state-of-the-art cardiac catheterization labs for diagnosis and treatment of cardiac disease.
Virtua Marlton continues to stay on the cutting edge of technology with specialty programs including arthritis management, orthopaedics, joint replacement surgery, minimally invasive surgery, diabetes education and treatment, asthma management and cardiovascular care.
Virtua Marlton's recent facility enhancements:
• Cardiac catheterization lab
The 2,300 square foot lab — the second at Virtua Marlton — enables the hospital to serve the increasing number of emergency and elective angioplasty procedures with the highest quality technology available. It enhances the ability of physicians to more efficiently diagnose patients.
The cardiac catheterization lab includes an all-digital cardiovascular imaging and archiving system, the clearest visualization of fine vessels, pinpoint diagnostics and precision stent placement, immediate life-saving capabilities, and the ability to treat more cardiovascular conditions.
• Endoscopic surgical suites
Marlton's two endoscopic surgical suites are dedicated to minimally invasive laparoscopic procedures such as gallbladder removals, hernia repairs, kidney removals and colon resections. The suites are fully digital and offer access to diagnostic images through PACs as well as a two-way video linkage with pathology.
The suites are complete with voice-activated equipment that is controlled by a surgeon. High-definition viewing screens are available in a conference room that is connected to cameras in the ORs. This allows nurses and physicians to view cases as they are happening without entering the sterile suite.
• Emergency Department expansion
Virtua Marlton’s 7,000-square-foot Emergency Department has 22 treatment rooms and also includes a specialized area for orthopedic emergencies as well as houses a fast track and acute care area.
The ED is equipped with the latest technology, including a patient tracking system, which alerts staff to where patients are in the treatment process. In addition, the ED uses bedside registration, which allows staff to complete patient charts during treatment. The new process reduces the time it takes to move patients from the waiting room to a treatment room.
• 64-slice CT scanner
Virtua Marlton’s 64-slice computed tomography (CT) scanner can capture images of any organ in one second and images of the heart and coronary arteries in as little as five heartbeats. In a single rotation, the system creates 64 credit-card-thin images that are combined to form a three-dimensional view of the patient's anatomy. This provides physicians with a better quality images and saves time detecting blockages that could lead to a heart attack.
• MRI suite
Virtua Marlton’s state-of-the-art MRI suite features imaging technology that combines fast and accurate diagnoses with high-precision imaging. Services include vascular and cardiac, neurological, spine, orthopaedic, prostate, pelvis and abdominal imaging.
Equipped with the latest imaging technology, the MRI suite enables physicians to use high resolution images to diagnose diseases and treat life-threatening illnesses, including cardiovascular disease and stroke. |
