Virtua VoorheesVirtua Voorhees is a full-service regional medical center in the heart of Camden County. The advanced medical expertise and special character of Virtua Voorhees ensure an outstanding experience for patients and their families, from maternity and pediatrics to general and specialized surgeries.
Virtua Voorhees is at the hub of a vibrant medical campus shared by the Virtua Fox Chase Cancer Program and a wide range of highly-respected physician practices.
Virtua Voorhees’s recent facility enhancements:
• Virtua Fox Chase Cancer Treatment Center The Virtua Fox Chase Cancer Treatment Center contains some of the area’s most advanced imaging and radiation delivery systems. The Center contains the Varian Clinac® iX linear accelerator, which delivers a targeted form of radiation therapy that preserves surrounding healthy cells.
• Microwave technology State-of-the-art microwave technology enables the Virtua Voorhees pathology laboratory to process tissue samples much faster than the traditional method.
Since the microwave technology processes up to 120 specimens an hour, the pathology lab reduces what is typically a multi-day wait time down to hours. In fact, all tissue samples received by 1 pm are reported the very same day, and some patients receive results from their physician within hours after a procedure.
• Emergency Department Virtua Voorhees expanded its Emergency Department to meet the demands for advances in medical technology and the increasing need for emergency care services in the community. The ED renovation included adding more than 34,790 square feet of additional space, 36 new examination/treatment rooms and 28 acute care and fast track beds.
• Children and Adolescent Rapid Evaluation Service (CARES) The Children and Adolescent Rapid Emergency Service (CARES) unit at the Virtua Voorhees Emergency Department offers pediatric emergency care 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Each child brought into the ED is treated by a pediatrician supported by a team of pediatric nurses and technicians.
• 64-slice CT scanner The Emergency Department’s 64-slice computed tomography (CT) scanner can capture images of any organ in one second and images of the heart and coronary arteries in as little as five heartbeats. In a single rotation, the system creates 64 credit-card-thin images that are combined to form a three-dimensional view of the patient's anatomy. This provides physicians with a better quality images and saves time detecting blockages that could lead to a heart attack.
• Voorhees replacement hospital project Virtua has launched plans to open a new hospital on Route 73 in Voorhees to replace the current Voorhees hospital. The new hospital will include a state-of-the-art digital hospital and will reside on a campus that includes a regional outpatient center for easy access to comprehensive services. The facilities will incorporate advanced technologies and quality clinical services, all within a healing environment. For more information visit Voorhees Replacement Hospital.
