Who is Virtua?
A non-profit organization, Virtua is a multi-hospital healthcare system headquartered in Marlton, NJ. Its mission is to deliver a world-class patient experience through its programs of excellence in oncology, cardiology, orthopaedics, women’s health, pediatrics, surgery, neuroscience and wellness. Virtua employs 8,000 clinical and administrative personnel, and has approximately 1,800 physicians who serve as medical staff members.

Where is the new Virtua Health and Wellness Center located?
The Virtua Health and Wellness Center is conveniently located on Hurffville-Crosskeys Road, a short distance from the Fries Mill Road intersection.

Why has Virtua decided to build a Health and Wellness Center in Washington Township?
Gloucester County is one of the fastest growing communities in the state, and its residents have been coming to Virtua for healthcare services for decades. In fact, more women from Gloucester County deliver their babies at Virtua than any other hospital in the area. Now Virtua is bringing its high-level care directly to the residents of Gloucester County in its new Health and Wellness Center located in Washington Township.

How big is the Health and Wellness Center?
Virtua’s new center sits on approximately 40 acres and the building will include nearly 250,000 square feet of space.

When will it open?
The Virtua Health and Wellness Center at Washington Township is slated to open in fall 2009.

Will Virtua’s new facility create new jobs for the surrounding area?
Yes, many of the services offered in the Virtua Health and Wellness Center are new to the area and will require Virtua to hire additional staff. For more information regarding employment at the new location click on the Careers section.

What is an Immediate Care Center?
The Virtua Express Immediate Care Center will provide a range of affordable healthcare services when you need them most. Staffed by physicians, Virtua’s Immediate Care Center will offer treatment for unexpected injuries and illnesses without the wait. No appointments are necessary. Most major insurances are accepted.

Types of illnesses treated through immediate care include:

  • Breaks and strains 
  • Ear infections 
  • Gastrointestinal problems 
  • Minor cuts 
  • Upper respiratory problems (cold/flu, bronchitis) 
  • Urinary tract infections
Will ambulances bring patients to the Virtua Express Immediate Care Center?
No, ambulances will not transport "emergency patients" to the new site. There may be some patients with special needs (nursing home patients, for example) that will be brought to the facility by medical transportation, but the vehicles will not use sirens or flashing lights.

Will the fitness center be open to families?
Yes, Virtua’s fitness center located within its Health and Wellness Center at Washington Township will be open to families. The new center will feature a family-friendly atmosphere.
